Accounts from Programme Participants

NR

Nurul Ain Roslan

Petaling Jaya ยท Budget Foundations

"I had read plenty of personal finance articles over the years, but this was the first time someone sat with the subject without trying to sell me anything at the end. The workbook is genuinely useful โ€” I still refer to the expense categorisation section."

Hafiz Imran

Kuala Lumpur ยท Investment Studies

"The Shariah instrument content was what made the difference for me. It was covered as a natural part of the Malaysian market โ€” not a separate module tacked on. Ahmad Farouk clearly knows the subject from having worked in it, not from a textbook."

Chin Wei Ling

Shah Alam ยท Lifetime Planning Studies

"The EPF sections were the most valuable for me. I had always assumed I understood my EPF account but discovered several things I had misread for years. The estate basics were also useful โ€” I had not expected that to be covered at all. Four stars because the individual sessions were hard to schedule."

Siti Khadijah

Klang ยท Budget Foundations

"I appreciated that the programme moved at a pace I could keep up with. I have attended financial talks before where I felt the speaker assumed everyone already knew what they were talking about. Here, nothing was assumed. The pre-enrolment conversation was also reassuring."

Rajesh Kumar

Subang Jaya ยท Investment Studies

"The annotated case studies were the most useful part for me. Seeing real Malaysian market scenarios โ€” even presented as historical examples โ€” made the concepts much more concrete than any definition could. The group sessions were also genuinely useful, not just scheduled padding."

YH

Yap Hui Xian

Puchong ยท Lifetime Planning Studies

"The planning portfolio was something I did not expect to find genuinely useful, but I have looked at it several times since the programme ended. Having everything organised in one place โ€” retirement, healthcare, estate โ€” made it clearer what I still need to think about and what I have already addressed."

Three Programme Journeys in Detail

AM

Ahmad Mustaqim, 34 โ€” Kuala Lumpur

Budget Foundations โ†’ Investment Studies

STARTING POINT

Ahmad tracked his income but had no systematic approach to expenses. He had been told repeatedly by friends to "start investing" but did not feel he understood what that meant in practice.

THE STUDY

He completed Budget Foundations over five weeks, then enrolled in Investment Studies three months later. He chose to take the gap to settle what he had learned before adding new material.

OUTCOME

By the end of Investment Studies, Ahmad could read unit trust product highlights sheets without assistance and had begun asking informed questions when consulting a licensed adviser externally.

PT

Priya Thiagarajan, 47 โ€” Subang Jaya

Lifetime Planning Studies

STARTING POINT

Priya had invested regularly for years but had not thought systematically about what she was preparing for. She felt uncertain about her EPF withdrawal plans and had no will in place.

THE STUDY

She joined Lifetime Planning Studies after attending a pre-enrolment conversation that confirmed the programme was at the right level for her. She used the individual facilitator sessions to work through her EPF planning questions.

OUTCOME

Priya completed her planning portfolio by the final week and used it to have a much more specific conversation with her solicitor shortly after. She has since referred two colleagues to the programme.

LK

Lee Kah Meng, 29 โ€” Petaling Jaya

Budget Foundations

STARTING POINT

Two years out of university, Kah Meng was spending roughly what he earned each month and felt vaguely anxious about it but had no framework for addressing it.

THE STUDY

He completed Budget Foundations in four weeks and found the reserve-setting modules the most immediately applicable. He described the programme as "unhurried and non-judgmental."

OUTCOME

By the end of the programme he had built his first monthly budget and set up a separate savings allocation. He has enrolled in Investment Studies for the following intake.
