A Measured Approach to Financial Knowledge

Oakridge Vassal was established in Kuala Lumpur to offer financial education that respects the pace of understanding — not the pace of a sales pitch.

— OUR FOUNDING —

The Counter was Established with a Purpose

Oakridge Vassal opened in Kuala Lumpur after its founders observed a consistent gap in the market — not a shortage of financial products, but a shortage of clear, patient education about how those products actually work. Many Malaysians were acquiring financial products they did not fully understand, trusting a salesperson's framing over their own studied judgement.

The name Oakridge Vassal draws from the imagery of a heritage apothecary: the oak of the counter, the vessel that holds the preparation. An apothecary does not push a remedy. They take time, ask questions, and dispense only what is appropriate and understood.

We have built our programmes around that same ethic. We are not affiliated with any financial product, fund house, or brokerage. Our income is from education, and our interest is in your understanding.

— OUR MISSION —

Education Before Decision

"We do not tell people what to do with their money. We help them understand enough to decide for themselves."

— Founding Principle, Oakridge Vassal

Our mission is to make the structure of personal finance legible to anyone who takes the time to study it. We believe that a person who understands their EPF, knows the difference between a unit trust and a direct equity purchase, and has thought carefully about their retirement needs — will make better decisions for their own household than any adviser without that context could make on their behalf.

How We Hold Ourselves Accountable

Registered Education Provider

Oakridge Vassal operates as a registered education provider under the relevant Malaysian frameworks. Our programmes are documented, structured, and regularly reviewed.

No Product Affiliation

We hold no commission arrangements with any fund, insurance company, brokerage, or financial product. Our facilitators do not sell products before, during, or after sessions.

Data Privacy

Participant information is handled under Malaysia's Personal Data Protection Act 2010. We collect only what is needed, retain it only as long as necessary, and do not sell or share it with third parties.

Curriculum Review

All programme content is reviewed at least annually for accuracy, relevance to Malaysian market conditions, and alignment with any changes to EPF rules, tax legislation, or relevant regulatory frameworks.

Facilitator Standards

All facilitators hold relevant professional qualifications or substantial industry experience. Continuing professional development is expected and tracked. We do not use facilitators who are currently active product sellers.

Participant Feedback

We collect structured feedback at the end of every cohort. Results are reviewed by the founding director and inform ongoing improvements to content and delivery. Concerns are addressed directly, not filed away.

— OUR VALUES —

What Guides Every Programme We Offer

Financial literacy in Malaysia remains uneven — not because Malaysians are indifferent to their finances, but because the educational pathways have historically been sparse, expensive, or tangled with product promotion. Oakridge Vassal works to change that within the scope of what structured education can do.

We focus on three areas that we believe are most underserved: household budget discipline, investment understanding within Malaysian instruments, and long-term retirement and estate planning. Each programme draws on the Malaysian regulatory environment, local market characteristics, and the real financial decisions our participants face.

Our values are straightforward. We believe in transparency about what education can and cannot do. We believe in respecting the participant's pace. We believe that no person should leave our sessions feeling pressured toward a specific product or decision.

Above all, we believe that the act of learning about one's finances is itself valuable — irrespective of what decisions follow. A person who understands the mechanisms at work is better positioned to weigh any advice they subsequently receive, from us or from anyone else.
